Warm and fluffy homemade dinner rolls that you can easily pull apart. These cloverleaf dinner rolls are so fluffy and delicious. They make a great side dish to serve along with any meal. The cloverleaf shape of the bread is made by separating the dough into small balls and placing three balls each into a muffin tin. When the bread is baked, you can pull the rolls apart for a fluffy buttery roll. These rolls are perfect for a family dinner, or even as a holiday roll to make for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

The dough is started with a yeast dough, but instead of activating the yeast in water it is combined with warm milk and sugar. Flour and salt are combined with an egg, melted butter and the yeast milk mixture. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Place the dough into a large bowl that has been greased with oil. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size. Deflate the dough and divide it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a small ball and place three each into a greased muffin tin. Cover the rolls again and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Bake the rolls until lightly browned. Serve warm with butter.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions
 

  • Place milk into a measuring cup and microwave for one minute. Whisk sugar and yeast into the milk and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add in egg, melted butter and milk mixture. Stir until a dough forms. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth. place dough into a large greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 12 cup muffin tin. Deflate dough divide into 36 small balls. Place three balls into each muffin tin. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
