Place milk into a measuring cup and microwave for one minute. Whisk sugar and yeast into the milk and let sit for 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add in egg, melted butter and milk mixture. Stir until a dough forms. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth. place dough into a large greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 12 cup muffin tin. Deflate dough divide into 36 small balls. Place three balls into each muffin tin. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
