Warm cheesy bread is the perfect cold weather side dish to enjoy with a bowl of soup or chili. Two types of cheeses are added on top of pizza dough spread with a garlic butter and seasoned with Italian seasoning. I love to serve this cheesy bread during the cooler fall months. Served with soup, chili or for spaghetti night, this bread will make it the perfect comfort food meal. Slice the bread into sticks and serve them with your favorite dipping marinara or ranch dip.

Pizza dough is the base for this cheesy bread. I used homemade pizza dough for this, but if you are short on time, you can use store bought pizza dough instead. The pizza dough is spread with melted butter that is mixed with minced garlic. Top the pizza dough with two types of cheeses, shredded mozzarella cheese and grated parmesan cheese. Italian seasoning is sprinkled on top of the cheeses. Bake the bread until the cheese is fully melted and the bread is crispy. Slice into sticks and serve warm with marinara sauce or ranch dressing.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • In a large measuring cup, whisk together warm water with sugar and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add in olive oil and yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth, adding in more flour as needed. Place dough into a large greased bowl, turning to coat both sides. Cover with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise at room temperature until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 400 F. Deflate dough and spread it out into a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Mix minced garlic into the melted butter and evenly spread over the dough.
  • Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
