All of the classic flavors of red velvet combined with the cinnamon sugar flavor of a classic snickerdoodle cookie. A classic red velvet cookie dough rolled in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. These soft and chewy cookies are perfect for Valentine’s day or Christmas. Everyone will love this delicious red velvet and snickerdoodle combination.

The cookie dough for these cookies is made similar to a classic red velvet cookie, with the addition of cream of tartar. And the cookie dough is rolled in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, giving these cookies the classic snickerdoodle flavor. They are baked until they come out clean in the center. Let them cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Red Velvet Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar. In a large bowl, combine butter with granulated and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Add in egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture, and mix until it is fully combined. Add in the red food coloring and mix until it is fully red.
  • In a shallow dish, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the cookie dough into balls, and roll into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place the cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
