Halloween is tomorrow, and this cake is the perfect way to celebrate. A classic vanilla sheet cake decorated with a creamy vanilla buttercream frosting that is colored green. The cake is decorated to look like Frankenstein, the perfect cake to celebrate Halloween. It is so quick and easy to bake and decorate this cake. You can even use a premade boxed cake mix for the cake part and a can of vanilla frosting, mixed with green food coloring to save time.

To prepare the cake, all of the ingredients are whisked together in the same bowl until smooth. You can also use a boxed cake mix instead and bake it according to package directions. Let the cake cool completely before frosting and decorating. To make the frosting, it made just like a classic vanilla buttercream frosting, with the addition of green food coloring. Evenly spread the frosting over the cake, covering it completely. Decorate the cake with the decorating icing for the hair and the mouth, and two Oreo cookies for the eyes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Ingredients for Frosting

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • green food coloring
  • decorating icing
  • Oreo cookies

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add in milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  • Pour cake batter into a greased baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool completely.
  • For the frosting, beat softened butter with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Beat until smooth. Add in green food coloring and mix until fully green.
  • Evenly spread frosting over the cake. Use the decorating icing to decorate the hair and mouth. Place two oreo cookies at the top for the eyes.
