Candied yams are a classic for every holiday meal, but I especially love to eat them for Easter dinner. The sweet potatoes are tender and sweet with a delicious brown sugar and cinnamon glaze over the potatoes. They almost taste like a dessert, but are the perfect side dish to serve along side of your Easter ham or for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. You can easily make these sweet candied yams ahead of time to be able to save time for your other side dishes.

The sweet potatoes need to be sliced into round slices and placed into a baking dish. To make the sweet brown sugar cinnamon glaze, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg. Let cook for a few minutes, until the glaze starts to boil and then boil it for a minute. Pour the glaze over the sweet potatoes, making sure that all of the sweet potatoes are evenly coated in the glaze. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover the pan and bake until the sweet potatoes are fork tender.
