White Cheddar Mac and Cheese Bake

Creamy and cheese baked mac and cheese with two types of cheese. The creamy cheese sauce for this pasta is made with white cheddar cheese instead of regular cheddar. It is also topped off with shredded mozzarella cheese before baking. This mac and cheese is perfect to serve for any holiday or occasion, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.

The cheese sauce is easy to make, butter is first melted in a medium saucepan, flour is added and it cooked for a minute to brown the flour, the milk, white cheddar cheese, and seasonings are added into the mixture, and cooked until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce has thickened. Mix the sauce with the cooked pasta. Pour the mac and cheese into a baking dish and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake until it is fully melted.

White Cheddar Mac and Cheese Bake

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz. elbow noodles
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 8 oz. shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. Cook pasta according to package direction, and drain. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add in flour, and cook for a minute to brown.
  • Pour in milk, white cheddar cheese, 1 cup cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Continue to cook over medium heat, while whisking constantly until thickened.
  • Mix sauce with pasta. Spread the mixture out into a large greased baking dish. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
