Tater tots on skewers loaded with cheddar cheese and bacon bits make the perfect game day appetizer. These cheesy tater tots are an easy appetizer to serve to a crowd. There is no need for a plate, everyone can just grab a skewer of tater tots and enjoy. These cheesy crispy tater tots taste even better dipped into ranch dressing. Make these tasty tater tot skewers as a quick appetizer for game day while you watch the game or as a quick party appetizer that everyone will love.

The tater tots are baked before you put them onto the skewers so that they are crispy and cook more evenly. Once the tater tots have cooled down slightly, you can place four tater tots per skewer, depending on the size of your skewers you may get more or less. Place the tater tots onto a large baking sheet. Sprinkle the shredded cheese onto the tater tots along with the bacon bits. I used bacon bits for these, but you can also use cooked and crumbled bacon. Or if you would rather makes these vegetarian, you can skip the bacon all together. You can customize these skewers to anything that you want. From the different types of cheeses to the toppings.

Tater Tot Skewers

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ( 32 oz.) bag frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • skewers

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425 F. Place frozen tater tots onto a large baking dish in a single layer. Cook according to package directions.
  • Let tater tots cool slightly. Place 4 tater tots per skewer and place back onto the baking sheet in a single layer. Top each skewer with shredded cheese and bacon bits. Bake for another 5 minutes, until the cheese has melted.
