Easy chocolate cake balls make the perfect Christmas treat to enjoy. Delicious moist chocolate cake is baked and crumbled along with a can of chocolate frosting. Covered with more chocolate and decorated with m&ms and pretzel sticks to look like reindeer. These reindeer cake balls will make a fun Christmas baking treats. You can also turn these cake balls into cake pops by using a lolly pop stick before covering them with chocolate.

The soft and moist chocolate cake is first made, although if you are short on time you can use a premade cake mix box and bake it according to the package directions. After the cake has baked, let it cool completely before crumbling it. Crumble the cake into a large bowl and mix with a can of chocolate frosting. Roll the cake mixture into bite sized balls and set onto plates. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before dipping in chocolate. Melt the chocolate melts in the microwave in 30 second intervals, until fully melted and smooth. Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted chocolate and set onto plates. Place two pretzel sticks at the top for the antlers and 3 m&ms for the eyes and nose. Refrigerate until the chocolate has fully set.

Reindeer Cake Balls

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ( 15 oz.) can chocolate frosting
  • 10 oz. chocolate candy melts
  • M&Ms
  • pretzel sticks

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Whisk in eggs, milk, vegetable oil and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour cake batter into a large greased baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool completely. Crumble cake into a large bowl, mix with the chocolate frosting. Form mixture into balls and set onto plates. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Melt chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each until fully melted and smooth. Coat cake balls into the melted chocolate and set onto plates. Place two pretzel sticks at the top for the antlers and 3 m&ms for the eyes and nose. Let sit until the chocolate has fully set.
