Turkey is the main part of the big Thanksgiving meal. This tender and juicy turkey is the perfect main dish for the big dinner. Before the turkey is oven roasted, it is coated with a delicious butter and herb mixture. Resulting is a tender and juicy butter turkey with delicious flavors from the fresh thyme and rosemary. Served with turkey gravy and your favorite holiday side dishes.

You will first need a roasting pan that will be big enough for the size of your turkey. Clean the turkey and remove the giblets. Place the turkey into the roasting pan. To make the herb butter mixture, combine softened butter with the salt, pepper, fresh chopped thyme, parsley and rosemary. Rub the butter mixture evenly all over the turkey. Cover the turkey with foil and bake for 2-3 hours. Uncover and baste the turkey with the butter. Continue to bake the turkey until golden browned and fully cooked through.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 10-20 pound turkey
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 springs fresh thyme, chopped
  • 3 springs fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 springs fresh rosemary, chopped

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Clean turkey and remove giblets. Place turkey into a large roasting pan.
  • Mix butter and seasonings together in a medium bowl. Evenly spread over turkey. Cover with foil and roast in the oven for 2 1/2- 3 hours. Uncover and baste with butter. Bake uncovered for another 30- 60 minutes.
