Classic Italian Pasta Salad

Pasta salad is a classic summer side dish that is perfect for serving at barbecues and picnics. Pasta salads make a great side dish, because it you can add any vegetables that you want and you can make it ahead of time. This classic Italian pasta salad is made with rotini pasta, broccoli and olives. All covered with an Italian salad dressing. After all of the ingredients are mixed together, cover and refrigerate until you are ready to serve. This dish is great to make as a make-ahead dish to serve at a picnic.

Only six ingredients are needed to make this salad, just pasta, broccoli, olives, tomatoes, onion, and a bottle of Italian salad dressing. You can use any small shaped pasta for this salad, I chose to use rotini pasta. Cook the pasta and broccoli florets according to package directions and place both in a bowl together. Mix with the remaining ingredients, and either serve right away or cover and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz. rotini pasta
  • 12 oz. broccoli florets
  • 1 ( 6 oz.) can black olives, sliced
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 1 ( 15 oz.) bottle Italian salad dressing

Instructions
 

  • Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and place into a large bowl. Cook broccoli accroding to package driections, add to pasta.
  • Mix pasta and broccoli with olives, tomatoes, and onion. Mix in Italian salad dressing. Cover and refrigerate until serving.
