You make the pretzel dough just as you would usually for pretzels. Then after they rise, roll them into bite-sized pretzel bites. Then boil them in a mixture of water and baking soda for a few seconds. Then bake until they are golden brown. For the cinnamon sugar, melt butter in a bowl, then in another bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Dip each pretzel bite in the melted butter, then fully coat them into the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bites
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix in yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth.
- Place dough into a large greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours. Preheat oven to 400 F. Deflate dough and divide into small pieces roll each into a small ball.
- Place water and baking soda in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil. Drop pretzel bites in batches into the water. Let boil for 20-30 seconds. Remove pretzels with a slotted spoon and place onto a large greased baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Dip each pretzel bite into the melted butter, then roll into the cinnamon sugar.
