Sweet and soft cookies with a shortbread flavor covered with powdered sugar. These easy and delicious cookies are rolled powered sugar to resemble snowballs. They make the perfect Christmas treats to enjoy around the holidays. Snowball cookies are sometimes made with walnuts or pecans that you can add to the cookie dough. Or you can leave the nuts out of the cookies and they will still taste delicious.

These cookies are prepared similar to shortbread in that they contain no egg and the cookie dough is more crumbly then other cookie dough. The cookie dough is made with butter, sugar, vanilla extract, flour and milk, all beat together. The dough is refrigerated for at least one hour, refrigerating the cookie dough before baking will keep the cookies from spreading out too much in the oven. After the cookies have baked they are rolled in a shallow dish of powdered sugar to resemble snowballs.
