Divide the cupcake batter between 12 lined cupcake tins and bake until the center of the cupcakes comes out clean with a toothpick. Let them cool completely on a wire rack before frosting. To make the classic buttercream frosting, beat all of the ingredients together with a mixer until smooth and creamy. Either pipe or spread frosting onto each cupcake. Decorate with m&ms.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ingredients for Buttercream Frosting
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2-3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup M&Ms candy
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a 12 cup muffin pan with cupcake liners. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Add in eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth. Evenly divide cupcake batter between the lined muffin pan and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool completely.
- For the buttercream frosting, beat softened butter with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until creamy and smooth. Pipe or spread frosting onto the cooled cupcakes.
