Homemade Cinnamon Crescents

Warm and fluffy buttery homemade crescent rolls filled with cinnamon and sugar and drizzled with a sweet vanilla glaze.These rolls are sweet and buttery, they taste just like classic cinnamon rolls, but are shaped into crescent rolls instead. They make a fun breakfast or dessert that everyone will love. They have the buttery and fluffy flavors of a classic crescent roll, combined with the sweet cinnamon flavors of a warm cinnamon roll. These rolls are great served for Christmas breakfast or brunch. 

The yeast dough is made with the same fluffy and buttery dough from crescent roll dough. Because it is a yeast dough, it will need to rise twice before baking. After the first rise, Combine cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl. Divide the dough in half and roll out each half into a large circle onto a floured surface. Spread the dough with softened butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into triangles. Roll each triangle up tightly and place onto a baking sheet. Let the dough rise again for another 30 minutes. Bake until the tops are lightly brown. To make the glaze, combine all of the ingredients. Once the rolls come out of the oven, drizzle with the glaze.

Homemade Cinnamon Crescents

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Ingredients for filling

  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Ingredients for Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Add in the yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface until smooth.
  • Place dough into a large greased bowl, cover and let rise for 1-2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 400 F. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Deflate dough and divide in half. Roll out each half onto a floured surface.
  • Spread the dough evenly with softened butter and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Cut into triangles. Roll the triangles up tightly. Place onto a large greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 30-60 minutes. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls.
