Cherry Snowball Cookies

Easy buttery snowball cookies filled with tons of cherry flavor from the dried cherries and cherry juice. These easy buttery cookies are perfect for any occasion. They would be great for a Christmas treat or Valentine’s day themed cookie. Everyone will love the shortbread texture of the cookies and delicious cherry flavor.

The cookie dough is made like a classic shortbread cookie dough, then cherry juice and dried cherries are added into the cookie dough. Roll the cookie dough into balls and place them onto a large ungreased baking sheet. Bake until the bottoms of the cookies are lightly browned. After they have baked, roll each cookie into a shallow dish of powdered sugar. Let cool completely before serving.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/21/ cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cherry juice
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, combine butter with powdered sugar until fluffy. Add in vanilla extract and mix until smooth. Add in the flour and mix until it is fully combined.
  • Add in cherry juice and fold in dried cherries. Roll the cookie dough into balls and place the cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Place the remaining 1/2 cup powdered sugar into a shallow dish. Roll the baked cookies into the powdered sugar.
