Brown Sugar Oatmeal Cookies

Soft and chewy oatmeal cookies with tons of flavor from the brown sugar. You can also add in any other ingredients that you would like, such as raisins, or chocolate chips. Or they also taste delicious with just the oats and brown sugar. This cookie dough is quick and simple to make because there is no need to chill the cookie dough before baking. Bake these delicious and easy cookies for a tasty sweet treat.

To start the cookie dough for these cookies, flour and dry old fashioned oatmeal are combined with salt and baking powder. Butter and brown sugar are creamed together along with an egg and vanilla extract. Then the flour and oats are creamed into the dough. At this point, you can add in raisins or chocolate chips to the dough. There is no need to chill the cookie dough for these cookies, after the dough is made, roll into balls and place onto a baking sheet. Bake until golden browned.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, oats, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl using a mixer, beat softened butter with brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Add in egg and vanilla extract and beat until smooth. Add the flour and oat mixture in three separate batches, beating until fully incorporated. Roll cookie dough into balls and place 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
