This sloppy joe tater tot casserole has all of the flavors a classic meaty sloppy joe with tomato sauce. And a crispy and cheesy tater tot casserole. This easy meal is made with ground beef and a homemade sloppy joe sauce of tomato sauce and brown sugar. And topped with crispy tater tots and cheesy cheddar cheese. This meal is perfect for any time of the year.
Ground beef is first cooked in a large skillet, breaking it up as it cooks until it is no longer pink. Drain the meat and add tomato sauce, corn, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to the skillet. Spread the sloppy joe mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with frozen tater tots and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. Bake until the tater tots are crispy and the cheese has melted.
Sloppy Joe Tater Tot Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 ( 15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 ( 15 oz.) can corn, drained
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 ( 32 oz.) bag frozen tater tots
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks until it is no longer pink. Drain grease and return meat to skillet.
- Add in tomato sauce, drained corn, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Continue to cook over medium heat to let heat through.
- Spread beef mixture into a large greased baking dish. Evenly place frozen tater tots on top of the beef mixture. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over tater tots. Bake for 45-50 minutes.
