Red Velvet Conversation Heart Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • red food coloring
  • conversation hearts

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter with sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  2. Add in the flour mixture and mix until combined. Add in food coloring. Roll the cookie dough into balls and place onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Remove from the oven and top with conversation hearts.
