Crock-Pot Black Eyed Peas

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound dry black eyed peas
  • 4 cups chicken broth or water
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Method
 

  1. Rinse back eyed peas and cover with water. Let the black eyed peas soak in the water in the fridge overnight.
  2. Drain water from the black eyed peas and place into a large crock-pot. Pour in chicken broth or water, cooked and crumbled bacon, salt, chili powder, ground cumin and red pepper flakes. Cover and let cook on low for 6-8 hour, or on high heat for 3-4 hours.
