Method
- Rinse back eyed peas and cover with water. Let the black eyed peas soak in the water in the fridge overnight.
- Drain water from the black eyed peas and place into a large crock-pot. Pour in chicken broth or water, cooked and crumbled bacon, salt, chili powder, ground cumin and red pepper flakes. Cover and let cook on low for 6-8 hour, or on high heat for 3-4 hours.
