Classic Chess Pie

Ingredients
  

  • 1 9-inch pie crust
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon white distilled vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • powdered sugar, for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Roll out pie crust and place it into a round 9-inch pie plate. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, cornmeal, salt, milk, melted butter, vinegar, vanilla extract and eggs until smooth.
  2. Pour custard mixture into the prepared pie plate and bake for 50-60 minutes. Let cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
