Basketball Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
Ingredients for Buttercream Frosting
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk
  • orange food coloring
  • Reese's Pieces

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter with both sugars until fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  2. Add in the flour mixture, mix until it is fully combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Evenly press the cookie dough into a greased round 9-inch cake pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Let cool completely before frosting.
  3. For the buttercream frosting, in a large mixing bowl, combine butter with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until it is fully combined. Add in the food coloring, and mix until it is fully orange.
  4. Frost cooled cookie cake, and decorate with the Reese's pieces to look like a basketball.
