Crock-Pot Black Eyed Peas

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound dry black eyed peas
  • 4 cups chicken broth or water
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions
 

  • Rinse back eyed peas and cover with water. Let the black eyed peas soak in the water in the fridge overnight.
  • Drain water from the black eyed peas and place into a large crock-pot. Pour in chicken broth or water, cooked and crumbled bacon, salt, chili powder, ground cumin and red pepper flakes. Cover and let cook on low for 6-8 hour, or on high heat for 3-4 hours.
