Classic southern sweet potato pie is so simple and delicious. Mashed sweet potatoes are mashed with butter and sweetened with a can of sweetened condensed milk. This pie will make a delicious addition to Thanksgiving dinner, or as a tasty fall dessert. To save time on Thanksgiving day, you can even make this pie ahead the day before. This pie tastes delicious served with whipped cream.

The filling for this sweet potato pie is started with peeled and cooked sweet potatoes. I boiled the potatoes until fork tender, but you can also bake or microwave them until tender. Mash the potatoes with butter until smooth, then add in sweetened condensed milk and eggs. Season with salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract. Mix the mixture together until smooth and everything is combined. Pour the pie filling into a pie crust and bake until the pie is done in the center.
