Creamy and cheesy baked mac and cheese topped with a delicious moist stuffing. This mac and cheese is the perfect side dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, or any other occasion. Mac and cheese, and stuffing are two the most classic Thanksgiving side dishes. But combined, they make a delicious new twist to these two dishes. The mac and cheese is creamy and cheese, and the stuffing is delicious and moist. Make this dish this year for a side that everyone will love.

The mac and cheese is made with a creamy cheese sauce started by cooking minced garlic in melted butter. Add flour and cook for a minute to lightly brown. Pour in milk and add in half of the shredded cheddar cheese, salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat, while whisking until the cheese has melted and the sauce has thickened. Mix the sauce with cooked pasta and spread out into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Prepare the stuffing mix according to the package directions, before topping on the mac and cheese. Bake until the stuffing is lightly browned. 

Stuffing Topped Mac and Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz. elbow noodles
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 ( 10 oz.) box stove-top stuffing mix, cooked

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and place into a large bowl. Melt butter in a large saucepan and cook garlic until fragrant.
  • Add in flour, cook for a minute to brown. Add in milk, 1 1/2 cups cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce has thickened.
  • Mix sauce with pasta, spread mixture out into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining 1 1/2 cups cheese. Cook stuffing mix according to package directions. Top the prepared stuffing mix on the mac and cheese. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
