Meatball sandwiches with homemade juicy meatballs covered with homemade marinara sauce and topped with cheesy melted mozzarella cheese. These meatball sandwiches are great for a weeknight dinner that everyone will love. These meatballs are easy to make with grated parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning in the meat, for a great base for these sandwiches. The homemade marinara sauce is a no cook sauce making it just as easy to make as it is to open a jar of marinara sauce. They are topped with cheese and baked until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
To make the homemade meatballs, in a large bowl crumble the ground beef along with breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, milk and an egg. Combine all of the ingredients together until everything is evenly combined. Roll the beef mixture into small tablespoon size balls and place them onto a large greased rimmed baking sheet. Bake the meatballs until the meat is cooked through and no longer pink in the middle.
The marinara sauce is made by mixing a can of crushed tomatoes with Italian seasoning. You can also use your favorite marinara sauce if you prefer. To prepare the sub buns, lightly drizzle olive oil over each sub bun. Place them onto a baking sheet and bake for a couple of minutes, until the bread is lightly crispy. Top each sub bun with meatballs and cover with the marinara sauce. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over each sandwich and bake the sandwiches until the cheese has melted.
