Classic homemade white gravy will complete your meal, being served with anything. This creamy gravy is made simple with ingredients that you may already have. It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare this easy gravy, making it great for serving for any meal. I like to serve this gravy over mashed potatoes, or with chicken. You can even serve it over biscuits for breakfast. This gravy is so creamy and delicious, and with simple ingredients it is a staple at any dinner.

The only ingredients that you need to make this creamy gravy, are butter, flour, milk, salt and pepper. The gravy is started with a simple roux made by melting butter in a large saucepan. Whisk flour into the melted butter and cook it for a minute until it is lightly browned. Pour milk into the saucepan and sprinkle with salt and pepper. You can use any other seasonings that you would like in this gravy. Continue to whisk the gravy constantly until it has thickened. Serve with mashed potatoes or biscuits.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add in flour and whisk for a minute to brown.
  • Pour in milk and season with salt and pepper. Continue to whisk constantly over medium heat for a couple of minutes, until the gravy has thickened. Serve over mashed potatoes or with chicken.
