Homemade Enchilada Sauce

Quick and easy homemade enchilada sauce that you can have ready in less than 20 minutes. Enchilada sauce can be used for many different recipes, such as classic enchiladas or a Mexican pizza. This easy enchilada sauce will go perfectly with any type of enchiladas that you want to make from classic beef enchiladas to cheesy chicken enchiladas. You can even make this enchilada sauce for vegan enchiladas since the sauce is already vegan by using vegetable broth. 

The only ingredients that you need for this homemade enchilada sauce, is a can of tomato sauce, vegetable, minced garlic, and some seasonings. Because you are making the sauce yourself, you can make the enchilada sauce as spicy or mild as you would like. Cook the garlic in the oil until fragrant, add in the remaining ingredients. Let the sauce cook until all of the ingredients are heated through.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ( 15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat olive oil, cook minced garlic until fragrant. Add in tomato sauce, vegetable broth, and seasonings. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
