Creamy homemade classic coleslaw that goes perfectly with just about any summer meal. Classic coleslaw is a staple for many barbecues and summer meals. It is so quick and easy to make fresh homemade coleslaw yourself. Coleslaw is made with shredded cabbage and carrots, mixed with a creamy dressing of mayonnaise, vinegar, and sugar. Mix all of the ingredients together and either serve right away, or cover and refrigerate until you are ready to serve. This dish is great for making ahead of time, you can store it in the fridge for up to one week.

The homemade coleslaw is started by shredding cabbage and carrots and slicing a red onion. For the homemade creamy dressing, mayonnaise is mixed with vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Fully coat the vegetables in the mayonnaise dressing and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 head cabbage, shredded
  • 2 large carrots, peeled, shredded
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white distilled vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrots and onion. In a small bowl, whick together mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix dressing with coleslaw.
