Green Velvet Snickerdoodle Cookies

Soft and chewy green velvet cookies coated in a sweet cinnamon and sugar mixture before baking. They have the classic snickerdoodle flavor in a delicious green velvet cookie. These cookies taste just like a classic red velvet cookie, except that instead of using red food coloring, green food coloring is used. They are perfect for St. Patrick’s day or Christmas.

The cookie dough is started like a classic red velvet cookie dough, then instead of red food coloring, green food coloring is used to color the cookie dough green. Roll the cookie dough into balls, then roll each one into a mixture of granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Bake the cookies until they are fully cooked through. Let cool completely on a cooling rack before serving.

Green Velvet Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • green food coloring
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter with sugar until fluffy.
  • Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture, mix until it is fully combined. Add in the green food coloring, and mix until it is fully green.
  • In a shallow dish, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll the cookie dough into balls, then roll each one into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Place the cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
