Green Velvet Blossom Cookies

Soft and chewy cookies with the classic red velvet flavor, except that it is made with green food coloring to make green velvet cookies. These easy and delicious cookies make the perfect treat to bake for St. Patrick’s day this year. A chocolate kiss candy is topped on each cookie after they have baked, like a classic blossom cookie. The green color of the cookies makes them fun for St. Patrick’s day or Christmas.

The cookie dough is made similar to a classic red velvet cookie dough, then instead of using red food coloring, green food coloring is added into the cookie dough until it is fully green. Use a cookie scoop to place the cookie dough onto a large ungreased baking sheet. Bake until the cookies are fully cooked through. Remove them from the oven and place one chocolate kiss on each cookie.

Green Velvet Blossom Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • green food coloring
  • chocolate kisses

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter with sugar until fluffy.
  • Add in egg and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture, and mix until it is fully combined. Add in the green food coloring, and mix until it is fully green.
  • Use a cookie scoop to place the cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven and place a chocolate kiss on each cookie.
