Snowball cookies, and gingerbread cookies are classic cookies to bake during the holidays. Which makes them the perfect combination to make one cookie with both flavors. It has the classic gingerbread spice flavors of a classic gingerbread cookie. And the texture of a soft snowball cookie. Bake these cookies this year for a delicious mix of two of your favorite cookies.

The dough for the snowball cookies, is made similar to making classic snowball cookies, with the butter and powdered sugar. Except it also has the addition of molasses to give these cookies that classic gingerbread flavor. It also has cinnamon, ginger, and cloves to have the traditional gingerbread spices. After the cookies have baked, they are rolled in powdered sugar, giving them a snowball look. Let cool completely on cooling racks before serving.

Gingerbread Snowball Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, combine softened butter with 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Mix until fluffy. Add in molasses and vanilla extract, mix until smooth.
  • Add in flour, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Mix until all of the flour is incorporated. Roll the cookie dough into balls, and place onto a large ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Place the remaining 1/2 cup powdered sugar into a shallow dish. Roll the baked cookies in the powdered sugar.
