Soft and chewy classic oatmeal cookies shaped and decorated like footballs. These easy chewy cookies make the perfect easy dessert for a football themed or game day party. The cookies are shaped into ovals like footballs, and decorated with vanilla frosting to make them look like footballs. Everyone will love these fun chewy classic oatmeal cookies.

The oatmeal cookie dough is made just like a classic oatmeal cookie dough, it is then shaped into ovals, and placed onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake until the cookies are fully cooked through. Let them cool completely before decorating. Place vanilla frosting into a piping bag. Decorate each cooled cookie with the frosting in a football pattern.

Football Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups quick oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • vanilla frosting

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, oats, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter with both sugars until fluffy. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  • Add in the flour mixture, and mix until it is fully combined. Roll the cookie dough into ovals, and place them onto a large ungreased baking sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool completely.
  • Place the frosting into a piping bag, and decorate each cookie in a football pattern.
