Egg Noodle Mac and Cheese

Creamy and cheesy baked mac and cheese made using egg noodles. The pasta is covered in a delicious creamy and cheesy sauce, and baked in the oven topped with more cheese. Everyone will love this fun alternative to classic mac and cheese. It is perfect for any family dinner.

The egg noodles are first cooked according to the package directions, drained and set aside in a bowl. To make the cheese sauce, butter is first melted in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add in flour and cook for a minute to brown. Add in the milk, cheese, and seasonings. Continue to cook the cheese sauce until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce has thickened. Mix the sauce with the cooked pasta, and spread it out into a greased baking dish. Top with another cup of cheese. Bake until the cheese has completely melted.

Egg Noodle Mac and Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz. egg noodles
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and place into a large bowl. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add in flour, and cook for a minute to brown. Pour in milk, 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Continue to whisk over medium heat until the cheese has completely melted and the sauce has thickened.
  • Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta. Spread the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining one cup cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
