Doritos Mac and Cheese Bake

Cheesy and creamy homemade mac and cheese topped with crushed Doritos chips, giving this mac and cheese a delicious crispy topping. Everyone will love these creamy, and cheesy mac and cheese with a crispy and crunchy topping. This mac and cheese makes the perfect side dish or even main dish that the whole family will love.

The cheese sauce is quick and easy to make, butter is first melted in a large saucepan over medium heat. Flour is added and cooked for a minute until it is browned. Milk, seasonings, and cheddar cheese is added and cooked until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce has thickened. Mix the cheese sauce with cooked pasta and spread into a baking dish. Top with more cheddar cheese and sprinkle with the crushed cheese Doritos chips. Bake until the cheese has fully melted and the Doritos are lightly browned.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz. elbow pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup crushed Doritos chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. Cook pasta according to package directions, drain. In a large saucepan, melt butter. Cook flour and cook for a minute to brown. Add in milk, salt, pepper, and 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Cook the mixture, while stirring constantly until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is thickened. Mix the cheese sauce with the pasta.
  • Evenly spread the pasta into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Top with the crushed Doritos chips. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
