Crispy Baked Fried Green Tomatoes

Crispy green tomatoes breaded in a mixture of cornmeal and Italian seasoned breadcrumbs. These easy green tomatoes are baked in the oven, making them a much healthier alternative to classic fried green tomatoes. Everyone will love these easy green tomatoes for a appetizer for any meal.

The green tomatoes are breaded in a mixture of egg and milk, then coated in flour, and coated back into the egg mixture. Coat in the breadcrumb and cornmeal mixture. Place onto a large greased baking sheet, and bake until they are lightly browned.

Crispy Baked Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound green tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400 F. In a shallow dish, whisk egg and milk together. Place flour into another shallow dish. In another shallow dish, combine cornmeal and breadcrumbs.
  • Fully coat each green tomato slice in the egg mixture, then coat in the flour, coat back into the egg mixture, then coat in the cornmeal and breadcrumb mixture.
  • Place onto a large greased baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
