Classic chess pie is an old fashioned southern dessert that is so easy to make. What sets chess pie apart from other pies is the cornmeal and white distilled vinegar added to the pie. This pie uses ingredients that you may already have in your pantry. No mixer is needed to make this pie, just a large mixing bowl and pie plate. This pie is perfect for the holidays, or for any day that you want a sweet old fashioned pie.

You can make the pie dough yourself, or to save on time you can use a premade pie crust. To make the pie filling, in a large bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, cornmeal, salt, milk, melted butter, white distilled vinegar, vanilla extract and eggs. Pour the filling into the pie crust and bake until the center comes out clean with a toothpick. Let the pie cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar.
