Sweet and delicious cherry blossom cookies filled with chopped maraschino cherries and topped with chocolate. These cookies are perfect for any occasion, Christmas, fall, or spring time these cookies are delicious. It is quick and easy to prepare these cookies, you can even freeze the cookie dough before baking. So that you can have tasty homemade cookies any time that you want.

To prepare the cookie dough, butter and powdered sugar are combined with a mixer until fluffy, the remaining ingredients are combined into the dough, except for the chocolate kisses. Cover the cookie dough, and refrigerate for at least one hour, or at this time, you can freeze the cookie dough. Chilling the dough before baking will help keep the cookies from spreading out too much in the oven. Roll into balls and bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes. Top each one with a chocolate kiss.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ( 6 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
  • 24 chocolate kisses

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl using a mixer, beat softened butter with powdered sugar until fluffy. Add in vanilla extract, beat until smooth.
  • Add in flour and salt, beat until combined. Fold in chopped cherries. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Roll cookie dough into balls and place 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and top each cookie with one chocolate kiss.
