Summer is hot dog and burger season. Instead of the traditional hot dog topping of ketchup and mustard, I decided to try something different. These hot dogs are covered in barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese and fried onions. The hot dogs are baked until they are crispy. These hot dogs are a delicious change from your usual hot dog toppings. The barbecue sauce combined with the cheese and french fried onions are a tasty addition to this hot dogs.

For these hot dogs, I baked them until they were crispy. But you can make the hot dogs any way you want such as on the grill. Or you can even replace regular hot dogs for a vegetarian alternative instead. Once your hot dogs are cooked, spread about one tablespoon on each hot dog bun and place the hot dog in the bun. Drizzle 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce over each hot dog, like you would ketchup. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on each hot dog and top with french fried onions.
