Crispy and cheesy, mozzarella sticks are a favorite appetizer at any restaurant. But you can make them at home without any frying required. These cheesy mozzarella sticks are baked with a crispy breadcrumb coated crust. They are so tasty and easy to make at home. Serve them with marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or your favorite dipping sauce.
These mozzarella sticks are started with a package of string cheese sticks. Cut each stick in half and set them aside. To make the breading, egg and milk are whisked together in one dish. Flour is placed in another dish, and breadcrumbs is mixed with Italian seasoning in the last dish. To bread the cheese sticks, coat each string cheese stick half in the egg mixture, then roll in the flour, dunk back into the egg mixture, and fully coat them in the breadcrumbs. Place the coated cheese sticks on a plate and freeze for at least one hour before baking. Freezing the mozzarella sticks before baking will keep the cheese from spilling out. Once they are frozen, place them onto a large greased baking sheet and bake until the breading is lightly browned and crispy.
