In a large measuring cup, heat milk in the microwave for one minute until warm. Stir sugar and active dry yeast into the warm milk, let sit for 10 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add in 1/4 cup melted butter, egg and the milk mixture. Mix until a dough forms, knead dough out onto a floured surface until smooth, adding in more flour as needed.
Place the dough into a large greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a towel. Let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 375 F. Deflate dough and divide it into 15-18 balls, roll each dough into a round ball and place into a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30-60 minutes. Brush roll with the remaining melted butter. Bake for 13-15 minutes.
