Soft and chewy sugar cookie bars topped with a delicious creamy buttercream frosting made pink with food coloring and topped with fun Valentine’s day themed sprinkles. Everyone will love the soft and chewy texture of the cookie bars and the delicious creamy buttercream frosting.

The cookie dough is made just like a classic sugar cookie dough. Press the cookie dough into a greased square baking dish and bake until the center comes out clean with a toothpick. Let cool completely before frosting. Make the frosting by mixing all of the ingredients together until smooth. Spread onto the cookie bars and top with sprinkles.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2-4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pink food coloring
  • Valentine's day sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, mix together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture and mix until it is fully combined.
  • Press the cookie dough into a greased 8-inch square baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool completely. In a large bowl, mix together butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add in the food coloring until pink.
  • Spread frosting onto cooled cookie bars and decorate with sprinkles.
