Spider Mac and Cheese

Creamy and cheesy mac and cheese made with two types of cheese, and topped with sliced black olives in a spider pattern. Everyone will love this easy fun and cheesy mac and cheese as a delicious Halloween themed side dish or main dish.

The mac and cheese is made similar to a classic mac and cheese, except for the addition of shredded pepper jack cheese mixed into the cheese sauce. Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta and spread the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with more cheese, and black olives, shaping them in a spider pattern. Cut each olive in half, and slice one half of the olive. Bake the mac and cheese until the cheese has fully melted.

Spider Mac and Cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz. elbow pasta
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • black olives

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Add in the flour and cook for a minute to brown.
  • Add in the milk, salt, pepper, one cup cheddar cheese and pepper jack cheese. Continue to cook over medium-low heat, while whisking constantly until the sauce has thickened.
  • Mix the sauce with the pasta, and spread the pasta into a greased baking dish. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese. Place olives onto the mac and cheese in a spider pattern. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
