Salisbury steak is classic dinner that is usually served with TV dinners. But making a homemade salisbury steak tastes so much better than any frozen steak. Salisbury steak is not actually made from any type of steak. Instead it is made from a ground beef patty that is smothered in a creamy mushroom gravy. The patties are tender and juicy with a creamy mushroom sauce on top. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans for a delicious comfort food dinner.

The ground beef patty is made with ground beef, breadcrumbs, seasonings, an egg, worshtershire sauce and ketchup. All of those ingredients are combined together to form four equally sized thick patties. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the beef patties until lightly browned. Flip and cook the other side until it is browned and the center is no longer pink. Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.

In the same skillet, melt butter. Cook the sliced mushrooms in the butter until they are softened. Add in flour and let it cook for a minute to brown. Pour in beef broth and let it simmer for a few minutes, until the mixture has thickened. Add the patties back into the skillet with the sauce and spoon some of the sauce on top of the salisbury steaks. Let the patties heat through for a couple of minutes.
