The cookie dough for these cookie bars is made like a classic sugar cookie dough, except with the addition of chocolate M&M candy mixed into the dough. The cookie dough is pressed into a square baking dish, and baked until it comes out clean in the center with a toothpick.

• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 large egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup M&Ms

Method

 

1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter with sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
2. Add in the flour mixture, and mix until it is fully combined. Fold in the M&Ms. Press the cookie dough into a greased 8-inch square baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
