Soft and chewy sugar cookies rolled in purple, green, and gold sanding sugar for Mardi Gra. Everyone will love the soft and chewy texture of the cookies and the classic sugar cookie flavors, along with the fun Mardi Gra colors.

The cookie dough is made like a classic sugar cookie dough, except that the cookie dough is rolled into balls, then rolled in purple, green or gold sanding sugar. Place onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake until the cookies are fully cooked through.

Mardi Gra Sprinkle Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • purple, green and gold sanding sugar

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, mix together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  • Add in the flour mixture, and mix until it is fully combined. Place each sanding sugar into shallow dishes. Roll the cookie dough into balls and roll each one into one of the sanding sugars. Place onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
