Soft and chewy snickerdoodle cookies made purple, yellow and green with food coloring. Everyone will love the soft and chewy texture of the cookies and the delicious snickerdoodle flavors. These easy and fun snickerdoodle cookies make the perfect easy treat to bake this Mardi Gra.

The cookie dough is made like a classic snickerdoodle cookie dough, except that it is divided between three bowls, one is mixed with purple food coloring, one with yellow and one with green. Take a small amount of each cookie dough and roll together into balls. Roll each one into a dish of granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Place cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake until the cookies are fully cooked through.

Mardi Gra Snickerdoodle Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • purple, yellow and green food coloring
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, combine butter and sugar until fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture, and mix until fully combined.
  • Divide the cookie dough into three bowls, and add purple food coloring to one, yellow to another, and green to another. In a shallow dish, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  • Take a small amount of each cookie dough and roll together into balls and roll into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place cookies onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
