The sugar cookie dough is made like a classic sugar cookie dough, then it is pressed into a greased baking dish. Bake until the center comes out clean with a toothpick. Let cool completely before frosting. The buttercream frosting is quick and easy to make, all of the ingredients are mixed together until smooth. Orange food coloring is mixed into the icing until it is fully orange. Spread the frosting onto the cookie bars and decorate with sprinkles. Cut into bars and serve.
Halloween Sugar Cookie Bars
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2-4 cups powdered sugar
- 2-4 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- orange food coloring
- Halloween sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. In a large bowl, mix together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Add in the flour mixture and mix until it is fully combined. Press the cookie dough into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely.
- In a large bowl, mix butter with powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract until combined. Stir in the food coloring. Spread frosting onto the cookie bars and decorate with sprinkles.
