Christmas Rice Krispy Treats

Everyone loves rice krispy treats. They are just marshmallows, butter, and rice krispy cereal. But they are so easy to customize for just about any holiday or occasion. For these rice krispy treats, they are made Christmas themed with green food coloring, m&ms, and Christmas-themed sprinkles. They are so easy to make, and no baking is needed. Just a large bowl, microwave, and baking dish. They make the perfect quick and easy Christmas-themed treat to make with your whole family this year.

To make the rice krispy treats, mini marshmallows are microwaved with butter until the marshmallows are fully melted and smooth. You can also melt the marshmallows and butter in a large saucepan on the stove-top instead if you would rather. Once the marshmallows are melted, mix in the cereal, and food coloring until combined. Fold in the M&Ms, and Christmas-themed sprinkles. You can also add in any other candy that you would like, such as chocolate chips. Press the cereal mixture into a large greased baking dish. Refrigerate until the treats are set. Cut into squares, and serve or refrigerate until serving.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ( 10 oz.) bag mini marshmallows
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cups rice krispy cereal
  • green food coloring
  • 1/2 cup m&ms
  • 1/4 cup Christmas sprinkles

Instructions
 

  • Place marshmallows and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl, heat in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring until it is fully melted and smooth.
  • Add in cereal, mix until combined. Add in green food coloring, and mix until it is fully green. Add in the m&ms, and sprinkles.
  • Press the mixture into a greased baking dish. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. Cut into bars.
