The cookie dough is made similar to a soft gingerbread cookie dough, except for the addition of cocoa powder. Roll the cookie dough into balls and place onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake until the cookies are fully cooked through.
Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon and ginger. In a large bowl, mix together butter, sugar, and molasses until fluffy.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth. Add in the flour mixture and mix until it is fully combined. Roll the cookie dough into balls and place onto a large ungreased baking sheet at least 2-inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
